What is Apple TV and why do you want one (when you already have a TV!)

I will let you in on a little secret, it is not a TV 😊, it’s a little box that plugs in to your TV and makes an old experience a new one.

There is a lot of new technology that does wonders for home entertainment and Apple TV, in our opinion, is one of those wonderful devices. 

So what does Apple TV do and why would you want one?

Streaming movies, tv shows and news - Apple has partnered with most of the major movie companies to bring new releases to your home for a lower price than it’s competitors. Most movies are available even before they are out on BlueRay (seriously a DVD? No thank you). Not only that, but you’ll be streaming those movies in 4k, assuming your TV is capable. Of course, you’ll also have the option to get most of your favorite tv shows and news channels, including free movies and tv shows.

What’s a better way to control your TV and your home than using your voice? No fumbling over text or an awkward on screen keyboard… just say it and there it is. For example, if you want to find Netflix in the App Store, simply say Netflix, or spell it out verbally. You can also talk to Siri inside your Apple TV to control your smart home. “Siri, it’s movie night” The lights dim, the curtains close and your scheduled movie starts playing. Oooohh, nice.

Apple TV also comes with a variety of games that were designed to play with the Apple TV Remote.  But maybe those aren’t  keeping you in your seat long enough, well, why not listen to your favourite music? Say Siri, play Mozart 5^th symphony, it will come up in Apple Music (iTunes) and play. 

Why do you have all these photos taking up most of the space on your phone if you’re never going to look at them? With Apple TV, you can sit your family down together and play a slideshow in the room using airplay through anyone’s iPhone in the room. Who knew the TV could bring your family closer together?
